Heyward Bannister, President

Heyward has more than thirty years of comprehensive experience in business development and management, public relations and marketing. He is skilled in building partnerships, coalitions and consensus among constituency groups, community and business leaders and public officials. Heyward has managed and/or provided consulting services for over 120 political campaigns ranging from School Board Elections to Presidential Campaigns.

He served as Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of the Columbia Housing Authority, providing oversight and policy management for over 2000 multi-family and single-family public housing units.

In 1992, Heyward became State Director for the South Carolina Clinton/Gore Campaign and was later a political appointee in the Clinton Administration, serving as White House Liaison for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, he served as the personal adviser and consultant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

After returning to Columbia in 1999, he joined Fannie Mae, a Fortune 500 company as the Director for the Fannie Mae South Carolina Community Business Center. His new challenge was to increase homeownership opportunities and affordable housing for under-served populations in the state. This afforded him the opportunity to establish close relationships with state legislators, homebuilders, bankers, realtors and public housing authorities throughout the state and region.

As owner of BANCO/Bannister Company, Heyward manages all administrative, operating and marketing activities. He conducts outreach and public relations campaigns for businesses and political clients, and develops and analyzes proposals for projects.
